SVG Filter Playground — Visual, Interactive feFilter Builder

Chain SVG filter primitives — feGaussianBlur, feColorMatrix, feTurbulence and others — visually with a live preview, instead of hand-writing and guessing at raw <filter> XML, which is notoriously fiddly to get right without seeing the intermediate result of each primitive in the chain.

How to use SVG Filter Studio

  1. Add filter primitives to the chain.
  2. Adjust each primitive's parameters.
  3. Watch the live preview update.
  4. Copy the generated <filter> SVG/CSS code.

Frequently asked questions

Why are SVG filters harder to write than CSS filters?
SVG filters support primitive chaining and more advanced effects (turbulence, displacement, custom color matrices) that plain CSS filter functions cannot do, at the cost of much more verbose, easy-to-get-wrong raw syntax.
Can the output be used as a CSS filter, not just inline SVG?
Yes — an SVG filter can be referenced from CSS via filter: url(#filterId), which is one common way to use the generated filter.
Does it support combining multiple primitives in sequence?
Yes — primitives chain so the output of one feeds into the next, letting you build effects a single filter primitive cannot achieve alone.
