PageRank Calculator — Check How Link Equity Flows Through Your Site
Paste your pages and the links between them — one line per page — and get the PageRank of every page, a graph of how rank flows, and warnings for orphan pages nothing links to and dead-end pages that link nowhere. It uses the published PageRank formula with the standard treatment of pages without outgoing links, solved to a 10⁻¹² tolerance, and it reproduces all eleven values of Wikipedia’s worked PageRank example to eight decimal places. Use it to see which of your pages collect internal link equity, and what happens when you change a single link.
How to use PageRank Calculator — Internal Link Equity Checker
- Paste each page with the pages it links to, like "Home -> About, Pricing, Blog".
- Adjust the damping factor if you want to experiment (0.85 is the classic value).
- Read each page’s share of total rank and how it compares to an average page.
- Check the warnings for orphan pages and pages with no outgoing links.
Frequently asked questions
- What does PageRank actually measure?
- The long-run share of time a random surfer spends on each page, if they follow a random link with probability d and otherwise jump to a random page. Pages linked from many pages — especially from important pages that link to few others — score higher.
- Does this tell me my Google ranking?
- No. This is the published PageRank formula computed exactly for the links you enter. Google uses many other signals, and how it weights internal links today is not public. Treat the result as a model of how link equity moves around your site, not a prediction of search positions.
- Why did linking to one page boost a different page?
- Because rank flows through pages rather than stopping. In the "Rank flows through" example, twenty pages link to Target and lift it from about 0.15× an average page to 2.7× — but Target links to Home, so Home rises from 2.2× to 9.5×. Point Target’s link at Shop instead and Shop becomes the page that jumps.
- What is the damping factor?
- The probability the random surfer follows a link rather than jumping to a random page. 0.85 is the value used in the original PageRank paper. Without the random jump, a group of pages that only link to each other would absorb all the rank — at d = 0.99 the "Rank sink" example holds 99% of it.
- How are pages with no outgoing links handled?
- Their rank is spread evenly across every page, the standard fix that keeps the scores adding up to 100%. The tool lists these pages so you can decide whether they should link somewhere.
- How big a site can it handle?
- Thousands of pages — a 2,000-page graph with around 16,000 links computes in a few milliseconds. The graph drawing is shown for up to 40 pages; beyond that you get the ranked table.
